Drink Fit is a policy that encourages and rewards local restaurants for reducing the amount of sugary beverages served to customers.
Childhood obesity rates are the highest in the state for NCPHD. The strongest documented association of the rise in childhood obesity is with consumption of sugar, especially soda and sugary beverages. Drink Fit aims to raise awareness of the harmful effects of sugary drinks while providing a financial incentive for local businesses. It is the only policy of its kind in the country!
Participating restaurants in Wasco, Sherman, and Gilliam counties commit to a “no free refill” policy and proportionally priced drinks (e.g. 12 oz – $1.00, 16 oz – $1.50, 20 oz – $2.00). In exchange, the NCPHD will give compliant restaurants a 10% discount on their Licensed Facility Fee.
If you are a restaurant owner who would like to participate in Drink Fit, please contact NCPHD at 541-506-2625.
