Step it Up! Students

logo-1The Step It Up! Students program aims to foster a healthy lifestyle in elementary school students.

North Central Public Health District is partnering with the Medical Reserve Corps to get students moving on their way to school. Launched on October 5th, 2017, National Walk to School Day, children from each elementary school in The Dalles now have the opportunity to join a monthly walking group to get to school. Through our Step it Up! Students program, elementary school-aged students meet trained chaperones at central locations on the first Wednesday of every month. Chaperones and parents walk with them to school, rain or shine, in an effort to get students walking, talking with friends, and spending time outside.

Meet at the starting location at 7:15 AM. Walking begins at 7:25 AM.

Starting locations:

Chenowith: Juanita’s Market on 2865 West 7th St
Colonel Wright: Parking lot on the corner of West 10th St and Trevitt St OR Corner of West 14th and Lincoln St (gravel road)
Dry Hollow: Parking lot of Gateway Presbyterian Church on 1111 Dry Hollow Rd
St. Mary’s Academy: Parking lot on the corner of West 10th St and Trevitt St
