Public Health Emergency Preparedness (PHEP) Program

North Central Public Health District’s mission is to serve the public by playing a major role in the protection of their health and safety, both in regular times and during emergencies. The Public Health Emergency Preparedness (PHEP) Program develops plans and procedures to better prepare Wasco and Sherman Counties to respond, mitigate, and recover from all public health emergencies.

Local Public Health authorities have always played an important role in all phases of the emergency management system, including preparedness planning and hazard mitigation, emergency response, and disaster recovery. The PHEP Program works collaboratively with other agencies, including County Emergency Management, to prepare for and ensure a coordinated response to natural and human caused threats including:

North Central Public Health District’s PHEP Program actively engages community partners in healthcare, human services, non-profit organizations and various other agencies throughout the District to assist in preparedness education, identifying community needs, and extending our existing preparedness resources and networks. In addition to building partnerships locally, the PHEP Program also works with other Local Public Health Departments and the State of Oregon to make certain to have the strongest possible response capabilities.

The PHEP Program is funded by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services through the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Cooperative Agreement.
