NCPHD Changes Clinic Hours; Upcoming COVID-19 Vaccine Clinics Listed

North Central Public Health District is modifying its clinic hours, and is also temporarily unable to provide COVID-19 vaccines to the public. However, numerous community vaccine clinics are coming up, and vaccines are also available locally at several pharmacies, One Community Health and Mid-Columbia Medical Center.

New clinic hours start this week. The clinic will be open with a full scope of services every Monday through Wednesday, from 8:30 a.m. to noon and from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. On Thursdays and Fridays, the clinic will only be open for emergency contraception. Appointments are encouraged, so please call 541-506-2600 to book one. Walk-ins are welcome, but there may be a wait time.

The full scope of services provided at the clinic include reproductive health services, testing and treatment for sexually transmitted infections, and immunizations. For more information, please visit our website at https://www.ncphd.org/

While the health district is temporarily unable to provide COVID-19 vaccines to the public due to staffing shortages, numerous vaccine clinics are planned in the coming months. Walgreen’s and Safeway are both booking appointments online. Find the Walgreen’s portal here: https://www.walgreens.com/findcare/schedule-vaccine and the Safeway portal here: https://www.safeway.com/pharmacy/covid-19.html.

Fred Meyer and Rite-Aid anticipate providing them, but do not have them available yet.

Local demand is high for the new and updated bivalent booster vaccine, which adds Omicron-specific spike protein components to the original vaccine composition. This helps restore waning protection against COVID-19 by targeting variants that are more transmissible and immune-evading. The Pfizer booster is available for those 12 and older and the Moderna booster for those 18 and older.

Mid-Columbia Medical Center also has the new bivalent vaccine, and will offer it to MCMC clinic patients. One Community Health is offering the bivalent vaccine to all community members.

Upcoming vaccine clinic times and locations include:

·         Friday, Sept. 16, 2-6 p.m., La Michoacana Store, 1210 Kelly Ave.

·         Saturday, Sept. 17, 10 a.m. 1 p.m. “Get Ready The Dalles” Mid-Columbia Fire & Rescue, 1400 W. 8th St., The Dalles

·         Friday, Sept. 23, 2-6 p.m., Juanita’s Marketa, 2865 W. 7th St.

·         Friday, Sept. 30, 2-6 p.m. La Michoacana Store, 1210 Kelly Ave.

In addition, four vaccine clinics will take place in October, November and December in The Dalles. Each clinic will run from a Thursday through a Saturday. We will post more information as those dates draw nearer.
