First fatality of a Sherman County Resident Due to COVID-19

Primer muerte por COVID-19 de un residente del condado de Sherman

Sadly, we are reporting the first death of a Sherman County resident due to complications of COVID-19.

An 82-year-old resident of Sherman County tested positive for COVID-19 on Jan. 11 and passed away on Jan. 27 in another state. The Oregon Health Authority recently received that information from the other state, and created the case early last week. North Central Public Health District confirmed the information late last week.

Our deepest sympathies go out to the resident’s family and to all families who have lost loved ones to COVID-19. It is a painful reminder that the pandemic continues to cost lives. Our best tool to end such losses is to get vaccinated.

Please visit https://www.ncphd.org/ to book a free vaccine appointment. And please continue to wear a quality mask, keep distanced, avoid gatherings, and keep indoor spaces well ventilated.
